The Coterie Room: Elevated American Comfort Food

Poutine with Braised Pork, Gravy, Beecher’s Cheese Curds
SEATTLE, WA — The Coterie Room, located in the Belltown neighborhood, features sophisticated New American cuisine. From Buttermilk Fried Chicken to Spring Carrot Risotto and Truffle Mac N’ Cheese, many American favorites are showcased on the menu.

The space is beautifully decorated with high ceilings and a sophisticated chandelier hanging in the center of the dining room. It is the perfect atmosphere for an intimate date or a classy dinner with friends.
When I see poutine on a menu, I can never resist the urge to order it. Poutine, originally a French-Canadian dish, consists of French fries topped with cheese curds and a brown gravy. The Coterie Room’s elevated version of Poutine is served with braised pork shoulder, gravy, fried Beecher’s cheese curds, and tender herbs. It’s very difficult to go wrong with a combination like that.
Smoked Dungeoness Crab
For entrees, we ordered the Smoked Dungeoness Crab with hashbrown potatoes and bacon hollandaise and the Duck Left Confit with farro and a mission fig conserve. Both were rich and decadent; made with fresh ingredients and artfully plated. The bacon hollandaise was so good, it could be smeared on anything and I’d eat it. The duck was so moist and tender that a knife wasn’t necessary.

I was trying to save room for dessert (I have a MAJOR sweet tooth) and had my eye on the Rhubarb Curd Tart, but was filled to the brim with all the delicious savory dishes. I’ll be back soon during weekend brunch for Buttermilk Fried Chicken and the Duck Egg Benedict.
