Fogón Cocina Mexicana Opens in Capitol Hill

By Jenni Liu

CAPITOL HILL— The owners of Woodinville’s Mi Tierra opened Fogon in early August 2012  in the Pike/Pine corridor or Capitol Hill. With traditional Mexican cuisine for urban palates, this restaurant is a new concept for the neighborhood.

Everything here is freshly made — from the chips and salsa to housemade tortillas, guacamole, and ceviche. The Ceviche with tender shrimp marinated in lime juice with tomatoes, onions, cilantro, cucumber, and carrots is a great starter.

The feel of the restaurant is reminiscent of something found in Mexico City. With freshly housemade tortillas, diners agree that the Carne Asade is one of the best — thinly sliced flame-broiled beef with grilled onions and fried jalapenos. Or try the Street Tacos with your choice of pork, carne asade, chicken or lengua (beef tongue).

Pair your entrees with the a drink from the tequila-inspired cocktail menu. The Ultimate Margarita made from scratch with fresh lime, Conmemorativo anejo, orange liqueur and simple syrup with chile infused tequila is fresh any day of the week.

Come in to celebrate Mexican Independence Day on Sunday, September 16th for some
