Ugly Sweater Party at RockCreek on December 21, 2014

Christmas Vibes All Day!

Drag those knitted Rudolph and bedazzled Santa sweaters out of the closet: on Sunday, December 21, RockCreek is hosting the ultimate ugly sweater party. From 9am all the way till midnight, there’ll be house-made eggnog, holiday cheer, and crowds decked out in their best, worst sweaters.

The party starts with brunch, on from 9am till 3pm with a handful of crackin’ specials that’ll cure what ails you on a Sunday morning. There’s the Tar Pit, a force-to-be-reckoned-with plate of country gravy, biscuits, shaved Niman Ranch ham, and poached eggs, all topped off with lemon Dijon hollandaise; a twist on chicken and waffles with a Buttermilk Fried Game Hen alongside masa-jalapeno pancakes and low country sausage gravy; and Bananas Foster Pancakes with rum sauce, candied walnuts and powdered sugar. There’s even a holiday-leaning special: Gingerbread Coffee Cake with lemon glaze. All in addition to the killer brunch menu usually on offer, with its bacon and oyster benedict and wild mushroom scramble.

Then there’s the booze, a crucial component of any party involving ugly sweaters. There are the usual brunch suspects: Brass Monkeys and Big Sky Bloody Marys, as well as the house-made eggnog that’s taken a trip south of the border and is spiked with tequila and sherry! (There’ll be non-alcoholic eggnog available too.)

The sweater party carries on into dinner service at 4pm, and the staff will be keeping an eye out for the wildest one: the wearer of their favorite sweater wins a $50 gift card to RockCreek! Keep warm with some gorgeous winterized fish dishes from chef Eric Donnelly like Day Boat Neah Bay Rockfish with farro and kuri squash risotto, sage, and Parmesan broth or Hawaiian Tombo Tuna au Poivre with braised leeks, poivre vert, and brandy-veal jus. Perhaps even sip on a “Tweed Jacket,” made with bourbon, Bonal Gentian, Peychaud’s and Angostura bitters, plus a Suze rinse while you flaunt your ugly sweater.

Find the ugliest, most awe-inspiring sweater and join RockCreek for a spirited Sunday full of holiday cheer.
