Join Serafina and Cavatappi in celebrating the return of summer
Serafina Osteria e Enoteca in the Eastlake neighborhood are celebrating the Italian good life with a five-course menu paired with Cavatappi wines, including their Nebbiolo and Sangiovese varietals. Guests will dine al fresco on Serafina’s airy courtyard June 4, starting at 6:30pm.
The Nebbiolo and Sangiovese varietals are the lifeblood of the Italian wine trade. Over 20 years ago, Peter Dow, convinced Red Willow vineyards to plant Italian varietals in Washington State for the first time. Peter’s wines have long been known to show true typicity and represent the possibilities of Italian varietals on domestic soil.
Much like our own late Susan Kaufman, Peter fell in love with Italy after a trip there, and he opened Café Juanita 5 years later in 1977. Based on his experiences with Italian dining, the premise was simple recipes made with local ingredients accompanied by well-priced regional wines. Since then he has opened his own winery, Cavatappi, and wine distribution company in Cavatappi Distribuzione. His wines are still produced in a cooperative venture with Red Willow Vineyard, utilizing Nebbiolo and Sangiovese primarily, and in some years Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our chefs will create a five-course menu featuring Mediterranean dishes that highlight Peter’s wines. Whether you consider yourself an amateur or seasoned aficionado of all things wine, please join us for a truly enjoyable evening of excellent food, delightful fellowship and brilliant Washington wine.
